“We decided to print the crazies ’cause life is crazy right now!” – the exact wording (including a photo) from a text I received from the Van Eeden family after sending them their gallery of images from their Centennial Beach session at the end of August.  I ADORE receiving texts like this.  Don’t get me wrong – a beautiful posed family photo can be a gorgeous addition to your collection of family photos.  But I always have a special place in my heart for the crazy, goofy shots. The shots that really and truly represent what your family is like.

Every session with young kids I like to play a game I call “5 Nice, 5 Silly.” As a reward for taking 5 beautiful, make-mom-cry-tears-of-joy shots, we get to take 5 super silly photos – and even mom and dad have to be silly.  These are the shots that I love the most.  It’s when mom & dad get to let their guard down, when the kids get to just be kids, and when we capture the most awesome photos (in my opinion!).  It also means you get some great posed shots, but it also means you get some shots that you can look back and laugh at, and remember what life was like when you had three crazy young kids.  I am thrilled that the “crazies” ended up on the walls of this family’s home.
