They’re pretty much my dream wedding clients.  An upcoming spring wedding at the Galiano Inn & Spa, an engagement session against the gritty but picturesque backdrop of Vancouver’s Gastown, and one incredibly endearing, easy-to-talk-to, so-in-love couple.

I first met Sharon & Darren at the Birds and the Beets coffee shop in Gastown for a wedding photography consultation. Walking in to the shop, I immediately felt like I was SO not cool enough to hang out there – everyone else in there was dressed in their trendy, hipster, downtown Vancouver attire, headphones on, Macbooks out or chatting & laughing with equally trendy hipster friends.  I put down my mom purse and found an empty table and waited nervously for Sharon & Darren, convinced I was completely out of my element.

But when this adorable couple arrived, they immediately put me at ease. They were welcoming, funny, keen and they knew exactly what they wanted for their upcoming Galiano Island wedding – which I love. We clicked immediately, and I left feeling like I had just made some new and awesome friends.

We agreed to meet in Gastown for their engagement session this past October, and Sharon had put together an awesome list of locations to wander to for their photos. The iconic brick walls of The Warehouse recording studio, snug little tucked away alleys in Gastown, the infamous Irish Heather pub, and the blue bridge leading to CRAB park were all perfect and unique backdrops for our session. We wandered and chatted, snapped photos and laughed.  I cannot wait to shoot their wedding on Galiano next spring!
