Every now and then, I get a photography request that is truly unique and special. This was one such request.  I met Erin when she participated in my Motherhood: Unfiltered series last month. Her story was really intriguing to me, not only because we have a shared history with postpartum depression, but also because of her unique living experience.  She and her husband and baby share a house with her grandmother, who lives in the suite upstairs. Her own mother lives nearby, and her great-grandmother lives in a senior’s home in Vancouver, meaning that 5 generations of the women in Erin’s family are all alive and living within the same city.

So, when Erin contacted me a few weeks after her Motherhood: Unfiltered session and asked if I could be there to capture a visit to her great-grandmother with all 5 generations, I was truly honoured and incredibly excited.  We met at her great-grandmother’s residence and this series of photos is the result of that special meeting (including a quick family session with Erin’s little family afterwards!):
