I love being a documentary-style newborn photographer. There’s such an intimacy in being invited into someone’s home, seeing how they live and how they interact in their own space.  It makes me feel like an honoured guest who’s being given a special glimpse into this magical new world of a growing family. I love it when the entire family is involved in the session, especially older siblings, who are often so comfortable and relaxed in their own homes, eager to show off their rooms and their toys – and sometimes even their new baby brother or sister! Rachel’s newborn session was one of these types of intimate, lovely sessions. It took place in their East Vancouver home, and included mom, dad, big sister and new baby M. We spent a leisurely morning hanging out, laughing, reading books and staring at the new baby. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday!
