When you step aboard the Ray family boat heading to Gambier Island, you’re immediately handed a cold beverage and the conversation starts. Your cell signal starts to fade, and with it, so do all your everyday concerns and endless to-do lists. As the boat speeds further and further away from the mainland, you feel your shoulders begin to relax. You can close your eyes and enjoy the mist from the boat’s waves gently sprinkling your face.
A weekend at the Gambier cottage is like a full body and mind recharge.
Our family was invited to spend some time at the Ray family cabin on a blossoming weekend in April. The weather forecast threatened rain showers, but our lazy Saturday at the beach and in the forest instead brought a cool wind, and some much-needed spring sunshine.
I spent the entire magical weekend with my camera in my hand, hoping to capture the essence of our lazy days for a family filmmaking class I’m taking online with Courtney Holmes. I hope you enjoy it!
*A special thank you to the Ray and Szott families, who included us in this wonderful and much-needed weekend of relaxation and calm, good food and good wine. Family Story film sessions are a new offering of eran jayne photography and I am offering them at a special introductory rate for 2018.
