In the spring, there aren’t too many spaces that are greener and lusher than Deas Island Regional Park. It’s one of my favourite places to shoot family portraits because the backdrop is gorgeous (green fields and trees galore), there’s tons of space for kids to run wild and be themselves, and it’s always easy to find a scenic spot to shoot, without other park-goers lurking in the background.
It was the perfect place to meet Thea and her family on sunny day in mid-May. I had met Thea before at a book club that I used to be a part of, but this was my first time meeting her three adorable boys, her hubby and her parents. Her two older boys were not shy whatsoever, running up to me as soon as I got out of my car, eager to tell me all about the bees’ nest they had discovered. Thea’s youngest took a little bit of time to warm up to me (as the littlest ones often do!), but by the end of our session, he was mugging for the camera just as eagerly as his two older brothers.
In fact, most of my favourites pictures from this session are of these sweet three little boys, as you’ll see below. They each have such unique personalities and faces that it was hard to not keeping turning the camera on just them!
