We’ve still got a few years left until my son graduates (hahaha, he’s only 6!), but this past June, I got a little peek into what it will be like to watch my son finish school and move onto the next phase of his life. The lovely Joanne contacted me, hoping I would be available to photograph a graduation party at their home that she was throwing for her son and his friends.

Normally, on any given Saturday in June, you’d usually find me out photographing a family with young kids in a field somewhere (which I did later that day!), but on this particular Saturday, I got to witness a parade of beautiful, excited, well-dressed teenagers celebrate together before they headed off to their dry grad. On numerous occasions, I found myself flashing forward to my own son’s future, as I watched Joanne’s son Jack interact with his many friends and family members present. I especially loved the bond he had with his 5 best buddies (since kindergarten!), who were also in attendance with their families.
