The arrival of a new baby is pretty much the best proof ever that life continues on, even in the middle of a global pandemic. What does become tricky, however, is how to handle the newborn photos with all these social distancing guidelines!

But I was totally game to try and make this happen for this lovely Vancouver family. A few years ago, I had had the absolute pleasure of photographing their second child as a newborn at home, so when they contacted me about the arrival of their third, I was really keen to make things work – even if it meant doing the entire session outside and from a social distance of 2 meters.

Thankfully, their beautiful yard at their East Vancouver home, paired with a lovely summery afternoon, made for a perfect setting. And even though I wasn’t able to do some of the more “close-up,” detail shots, we were still able to capture this exciting and momentous time in all of their lives! Welcome to the world, baby E!
