Every year since he was 3, this adorable human has humoured me with a photo session right around his birthday. Each year, it gets a little harder to convince him to do it, and his patience runs out within only a few minutes. But I can’t lie – I’m glad he still tolerates his mother and her precious tradition!

This year, he turns 8. And even though we’ve been telling him for years that he’s not allowed to get older, somehow the birthdays still keep passing by! He’s weathered this pandemic amazingly well, nurturing an obsession with all things basketball. He loves playing it, talking about it, watching it, and one day dreams of being an NBA player.

He’s got a quirky, unique sense of humour and loves being the one to make me laugh. His dramatic side is starting to show – as well as his competitive side – and I know these will be an interesting combination in years to come. But he’s also got a heart of gold, full of compassion for others.

So, happy birthday, little man! I can’t wait to bug you about doing this next year! xo mom
