“What makes us special, makes us strong!” I never thought that a musical full of burp and fart jokes could also be so poignant and thought-provoking, but that’s exactly what you get with Shrek the Musical Jr. And if you know me, you know that poignancy and potty humour are two of my favourite things, so you’d be right in guessing that the show is right up my alley.

Not only does this show surprise you with its messaging, it’s also a delight when it comes to the music and dialogue. The songs are super catchy (no joke, I’ve been singing these songs all the live-long day for months since my kiddo started rehearsing it), the characters are laugh-out-loud funny, and the whole cast & crew at Delta Youth Theatre have really put their hearts and souls into this show.

As usual, I was lucky enough to do the promotional photos for Shrek Jr. and this time, it was such a riot. Our photo shoot Shrek was in the make-up chair for a couple hours, getting all green-ed out. Our short-statured Lord Farquaad’s became best buddies with my cats. And our Donkeys and Fionas filled my studio with song – it was such a fun experience.
