It was the perfect was to kick off my 2023 summer sunset season – with a family of some of my favourite people ever! Lesley and I have been friends since our university days (and I’m NOT going to say how long ago that was!), and words cannot express how much I adore her and her family. Watching her interact with her kids, and seeing how they resemble her and love her to bits just makes my heart so happy.

Lesley’s crew joined me for one of my “almost” sunset sessions – a new offering this year, happening 2 hours before sunset instead of the usual 1 hour. So, I was a bit nervous to see how this would go with the sun a bit higher in the sky, but I had gone to Centennial Beach a few days beforehand to scope out possible locations and I found the perfect spot. A bit lower than the pathway and tucked away in a pretty private spot, this location worked so well and still gave us that gorgeous golden glow that everyone loves during a sunset session.

The smiles and conversation were plentiful, as Lesley’s kids regaled me with their stories about rock-climbing and Minecraft and circus arts and STEM projects – I loved every second of it. We even managed to sneak in a few photos of my dear friend in her grad cap & gown, as she recently completed a masters degree at UBC. To say that I am endlessly proud of her would be a gross understatement, and I absolutely adored spending this time with her and her family!
