One of the things that I love about a newborn session is the privilege of being invited into a family’s home after the birth of their new baby. I remember those early days when my own son was born. It felt like the three of us – my husband, my newborn and I – were the only people in the world that truly mattered. All the outside noise and cacophony of real life came to a stand still, as we fumbled and basked in the newness of this teeny new person.
As a Tsawwassen newborn photographer, I have the special privilege of being invited into those moments. The images that I am able to capture are ones of connection and infatuation with little details like fingers and toes and ears or silly faces and loving smiles that are offered to these new little souls. The real and precious moments are caught when mommy or daddy try to coax baby into a soothing sleep, or of course, when baby protests and just wants to be fed or cuddled (and is decidedly “done” with having her picture taken!).
If you book me for your newborn’s first photos, your session will take place in the comfort of your own home. I come directly to you, bringing a few neutral blankets, and will spend up to 3 hours in your home, capturing all of those special moments with your new baby.

Each newborn lifestyle session is unique. I love being in the family’s own home, with their own possessions, in their own rooms. The memories that we will create are going to include images of things that are meaningful to you, with little details that may be forgotten one day when your newborn is a grumpy teenager – the nursery, the favourite blankie, the stuffed animals, the crib mobile, the little booties that auntie made, the bedtime stories that will be read for years to come. Every family member can be included in the shoot, and the whole experience will be incredibly flexible and natural.
Each session can be up to 3 hours long, with extra time built into your session to allow for nursing/feeding, diaper changes, cuddles and rests. I do my utmost to make sure that each session is as relaxed and calm for the new parents as possible.
The first few weeks of having a newborn are magical, but they can also be pretty hazy. Let me freeze these moments in time for your family, so that one day you will be able to look back and remember those early days, and how it felt looking into your newborn’s eyes, and how your heart expanded a million times when your baby’s tiny fingers wrapped around your own.
