One of the absolute joys of being a photographer is meeting fascinating, talented people—and sometimes, those encounters turn into fast friendships. That’s exactly what happened when I met Peter.

Our paths first crossed at my son’s audition for Charlie & the Chocolate Factory with Theatre Under the Stars. My son, Henry, was auditioning for the role of Charlie Bucket, and Peter? Well, he landed the role of none other than Willy Wonka himself. As rehearsals have begun and excitement has grown, he has become a regular in our lives and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Originally from Australia, Peter has recently made Vancouver his home. He brings with him a wealth of international performing experience, especially from his time dazzling audiences as a cruise ship entertainer. Alongside his equally talented partner, Danielle, Peter is one half of Sky Notes Duo—a breathtaking aerial and vocal performance act that blends artistry and athleticism in the most magical way.

When Peter booked a headshot session with me, I knew it would be a treat—and he did not disappoint. He came fully prepared with multiple wardrobe changes and an effortless array of “looks.” The session was easy, fun, and full of laughter. He knows how to connect with the camera in a way that feels genuine and expressive, and it was such a pleasure to capture the many facets of his personality—from charismatic leading man to down-to-earth family friend.

What struck me most during our session (and every time we interact) is Peter’s warmth. He is kind, grounded, and incredibly dedicated to his craft. He brings energy and openness to every room he enters—whether he’s preparing for an audition, or simply chatting over dinner with our family.

I’m so excited to watch him bring Willy Wonka to life on the Malkin Bowl stage this summer—and even more excited that our families have connected through this unforgettable experience.
