Beautiful Chaos at Deas Island
Late September was full of lovely weather, perfect for Chelsea’s morning family portrait session at Deas Island Regional Park. The air was fresh and warm, the air just starting to hint at fall and the energy was pure joyful chaos in the best possible way.
Chelsea and her husband brought their two adorable little ones (both under five), which meant I knew from the start that this would be a session full of fun, movement, and surprises. Sometimes, a photo shoot with young kids can feel a little wild, but I’ll be honest, that’s exactly where I thrive. I love a session like this. The “rules” go out the window, and instead of aiming for the perfectly posed shot, I focus on capturing the magic that happens when everyone just lets go and has fun.
And, as always, that’s when the real magic happens. Once everyone stops trying to get the “perfect” photo, we find it – over and over again. There were giggles, snuggles, a few runs through the grass, and plenty of genuine smiles that can’t be staged.
Chelsea’s kids both have the sweetest smiles and the most heart-melting bond. They played together, hugged each other, and made my job so easy. Sometimes siblings bicker and poke at each other, but not these two. Their connection was so much fun to photograph, especially with their lollipop reward at the end!
By the end of the session, we had a gallery full of love, laughter, and all the beautiful chaos that makes family life with young ones so special.
