Ending Sunset Season with the Goldvine Family

The Goldvine family has been in front of my camera since 2018, when they first booked a cozy Holiday Mini Session in my studio. While that was a good start, we quickly discovered that an outdoor sunset session – where their boys could run, laugh, and just be themselves – was the perfect fit. Since then, I’ve had the joy of photographing them at the beach pretty much every year since, and it’s always a highlight of my season.

One of my favourite things about this family is how mom and dad completely embrace the chaos. They let their boys be silly, adventurous, and loud – and as a result, we always end up with the BEST photos. This year was no exception. About halfway through the session, one of their boys stopped me to point out that we hadn’t played as many games as usual. Challenge accepted! The second half of the session turned into a whirlwind of my favourites: “5 Nice, 5 Silly,” “Burrito/Banana,” “Read My Mind,” “Follow the Leader,” and of course, “Run Circles Around Mom & Dad.” The laughter was non-stop, and the parents were right in the thick of it, which made the photos even more perfect.

This session also marked a seasonal milestone for me – it was my very last sunset session at Centennial Beach this year. I couldn’t imagine ending the season with a better family. True to form, the Goldvines wrapped things up with one final splash – literally – when everyone ran straight into the water.

It was the perfect, joy-filled finale to a summer of sunsets, and I can’t wait to do it all again with them next year.
