Why I Take on Only a Few Weddings Each Year | A Boutique Wedding Photographer’s Approach

One of the questions I’m asked most often is why I take on so few wedding photography clients each year. The short answer? Because I like to this of myself as a boutique wedding photographer – I care deeply about doing this work well and about the people I do it for.

When I photograph a wedding, I want to give it 100% of my focus, energy, and heart. That simply isn’t possible when a photographer is mass-booking weddings weekend after weekend and rushing from one gallery to the next. I’ve never wanted to be a high-volume studio that mass-produces wedding photography. Your wedding isn’t a number on a calendar; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime gathering of the people who matter most to you.

Taking on a limited number of weddings allows me to truly get to know you and your partner. I want you to feel comfortable with me, to trust me, and to feel a genuine connection to both me and my work. That connection shows up in your photos – in the quiet moments, the laughter, the in-between glances that only happen when you feel at ease.

I also love getting to know your families and the important people in your lives. Whether it’s parents, grandparents, siblings, or chosen family, those relationships matter. When I understand who’s who and why they’re important, I can photograph your day in a way that feels deeply personal and meaningful.

On a more human note, I’m also a busy mom with a busy kid and a busy husband, and weekends are precious in our household. By limiting my wedding bookings, I’m able to show up fully for my clients and still maintain balance at home. I believe strongly that both your time and my time are valuable, and I want every wedding I photograph to receive the care it deserves.

If you’re looking for a South Delta boutique wedding photographer who is intentional, invested, and truly present, taking on fewer weddings is how I ensure your story is told with care and heart.
