A Little Secret in the Park

Some clients walk into a session and immediately make everything easy, and Sarah and Justin are exactly that kind of people.

I first met these two last year when I had the honour of photographing their surprise wedding, so when Sarah reached out about another very special secret project, I was absolutely in. We met on a crisp January morning in the top corner of Diefenbaker Park – tucked away enough that we could keep things quiet, which was important since they hadn’t yet shared their exciting news with the world. They were expecting a baby this summer, and these photos were going to be the announcement.

Sarah showed up completely prepared with adorable props, a head full of ideas, and the kind of energy that makes my job genuinely fun. There’s nothing better than a client who comes ready to play, and she had clearly put so much love into every detail. Justin was right there with her, and the two of them together just radiate warmth. Honestly, all I had to do was keep up!

Since their session, they’ve learned that their little one is a girl – which, for the record, is exactly what Sarah predicted!

Watching clients move through different seasons of life is one of the most meaningful parts of this work. I photographed their wedding, and now here we are on the edge of an entirely new chapter. I have no doubt that Sarah and Justin are going to be incredible parents, and I genuinely cannot wait to meet their daughter someday.
