This spring, my studio has been full of the most incredible people.
Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of photographing a long parade of local women – health professionals, therapists, entrepreneurs, bookkeepers, financial advisors, a home decorator, a community employee, a funeral services professional, even a priest – all of them showing up to update the image they present to the world. And every single one of them walked out with photos that actually looked like them.
Here’s what struck me: on the surface, these women had wildly different careers and lives. But the moment they stepped in front of my camera, I saw the same things over and over again. Poise. Warmth. Confidence. Every single one of them was a genuinely great conversationalist – the kind of person who could put anyone at ease – which, as it turns out, makes my job both easier and more fun.
A good headshot isn’t about putting on a performance. It’s about capturing who you already are. And what I kept seeing, session after session, was women who knew exactly who they were. They just needed photos that said it out loud.
I’ve been doing this long enough to know that not every season feels like a gift. But these ones? These ones did.
If your headshots are overdue for an update, or if you’ve been putting it off because you’re not sure how you’ll feel in front of a camera, I’d love to chat. If the women I’ve been photographing this spring are any indication, you’re going to surprise yourself!
