This spring, I tried something a little different — and it turned out to be one of my favourite things I’ve done in a while.
In late April and early May, I hosted a series of spring mini sessions at Earthwise Garden, a brand new location for me. The gardens were absolutely stunning – lush and green, with spring flowers in full bloom around every corner. The winding walkways gave the kids plenty of room to run and explore, while still providing the most beautiful, natural backdrops for portraits. It was the kind of setting where nature just does the work for you.
We were also incredibly lucky with the weather. Every single session day was gorgeous, which made the whole experience feel even more magical.
But what made these sessions truly special to me was the why behind them. I ran these minis as a fundraiser for the Grade 7 graduation fund at South Park Elementary – my son’s school, and his graduating class. A portion from every session – $25 – was donated directly back to the fund. It meant so much to be able to give back to this community in a tangible way, and made every session feel even more meaningful.
Getting to meet so many families from South Park was really so much fun. It was a beautiful reminder of just how much I love what I do. And for those familiar faces who booked in – it was so wonderful to see you again and catch up between frames.
To everyone who joined me at Earthwise Garden this spring: thank you. Thank you for trusting me with your family, for supporting the fundraiser, and for making these sessions such a wonderful experience. I hope these photos bring you as much joy to look at as they brought me to take.
