I love the community of Tsawwassen. When we moved here 5 years ago, I suspected that I would love it’s small-town feel and beachside community, but I had no idea that I would love the people here so much as well! There’s such a unique mix – dedicated professionals, amazing parents, creative artists, friendly neighbours. I love being a part of this community.
Which is why I really wanted to be involved with the Dirt & Candlelight Gala when I heard about it. Billed as an “evening of elegance at the farm,” this event was coordinated by the amazing folks at Delta School District, as a means to celebrate and support two awesome programs for high school students: the Performance Academy with Vancouver Opera and Farm Roots Mini School. The evening saw an eclectic silent and live auction, musical entertainment by talented opera singers and The Retrogrades, plus a beautiful meal prepared by Urban Wood Fired Pizza using ingredients fresh from Farm Roots.
I got to host a photo booth with props from the Vancouver Opera, and also had the pleasure of roving the event and taking photos throughout the evening. It was truly a magical evening and I fear the photos don’t quite do it justice, but I hope they give you an inkling of how special the event was!
