The little heart-shaped plaque bearing this hand-written message hangs in the Cadman kitchen, as the music from the Tragically Hip plays in the background of their morning.

Baby Ben chills in his high chair, content to squeal with joy at random intervals. His two sisters drift in at out of his gravitational pull, stopping for kisses and snuggles and then carrying on to help mom with the cooking, or draw with their stuffies or take part in an impromptu dance party with dad.  Mom’s laughter is an accompanying track to the background music playing on the little kitchen stereo.

What I feel in their presence is just joy.  This family honestly loves being with each other, and its contagious. I’m caught up in their stories, captivated by these two little girls and their charming sweetness, while their adoring brother looks on and squeals with delight. Catching mom and dad laughing together, telling and creating inside jokes all morning. Witnessing a home full of laughter and chaos and really good breakfasts.

This is their life, and it’s beautiful.
