When Deb reached out to me about booking a photo session with her grandsons, her request was to recreate the photo of the two young boys kissing her cheeks.  We took the original shot last year at a Valentine’s Day mini session, and I loved the idea of creating another image with the boys, a year older.  They won’t be this young forever, and who knows how much longer they will tolerate such an adorable shot with their grandmother?

It’s hugely important for me in my business to make sure that moms get into the picture with their kids (hence my upcoming Mom & Me Mini Sessions!), but we often forget about those special relatives outside of our nuclear family, like grandparents.

I don’t have a lot of photos with my grandparents. They were very present in my life growing up, and I spent a lot of time at my maternal grandparents home throughout my entire youth. But my grandmother was often the one with the camera in her hand, and we were rarely photographed with her. I think it’s so special that these two young boys will have these photographs with their grandmother to treasure when they get older.

I adored working with the entire family down at Second Beach in Stanley Park (a new location for me!). It wasn’t super warm, but they were troopers and I think we got some great shots!
