“Whatever we do, we’re together!”

It felt like that was the family motto of the Niblett crew when I read through their pre-session questionnaire. A close-knit tribe of 5 – mom, dad, two brothers and a toddler sister – this crew just radiates contentment and enjoyment in each other’s company. And from the moment I entered their cozy home, I was greeted with enthusiasm (“Let me show you my toys!” “Come see my room!” “Can I make you some tea?” “Watch this!”). There was no shortage of moments to capture with this bunch.

What I loved most about these guys, however, was the sense that each family member had his or her own story to tell.  I probably could have made a film for each one of them. Dad was thoughtful and observant but with a great sense of humour and you could tell he loved learning and hanging out with his kids.  Mom radiated laughter and positive energy, even during moments of discipline or chaos. Their eldest son was contemplative and articulate, but completely full of beans when the energy got high.  Their youngest son always had something to say or something to show me, but also displayed a serious side when I asked questions or wanted to know more.  And their not-so-baby sister was a total firecracker, telling stories, chatting away and showing off endless tricks and toys.  There was rarely a dull moment with this crew!

A tremendous thank-you to the Niblett family for welcoming me into their home and their lives with such enthusiasm and energy.
