Place des Arts always felt like home to me because of the supportive and encouraging relationships that I developed with the staff there.
This summer, the multi-disciplinary arts centre in Coquitlam is running a fabulous contest, asking its community members why Place des Arts feels like home to them. It’s called the My Place des Arts Story contest. Their plan was to announce it in partnership with the official launch of their new, colourful branding, and they wanted to make a splash doing it.
I worked as a special events coordinator at Place des Arts for a couple years, before I became a photographer, so I have a special place in my heart for this lovely staple in the Coquitlam community. So, when they asked me to come spend a day at Place des Arts and create a special contest announcement film for them, incorporating all the vibrant disciplines and many of the centre’s talented staff and students, I couldn’t wait!
It was a complete pleasure and an absolute honour to work with the staff of Place des Arts again, and I’m very proud of this short film we created. If you’ve ever visited Place des Arts, or taken a class there, and been impacted by the cozy, feels-like-home nature of the centre, I encourage you to check out the My Place des Arts Story contest details for your chance to win an awesome prize! Winners and their stories will also be featured in a future visual vignette, created by yours truly!
