Our kids were born just a few hours and one hospital room apart, back in 2013 at the Richmond Hospital. We connected at a Baby Circle coordinated by our midwifery in the hazy days of post-partum, and I’ve loved running into Shannon and her family in the community over the years since then. I feel like we have a special kinship, given that we pretty much brought life into the world together, albeit separately.

And so, when we met up in early September for one of my last sunset sessions of the season, it was such a treat to see how her kids have grown and to watch her lovely family interact and spend time together.  There was a LOT of energy at this session – but that’s what I love! I embrace the silliness of kids – that’s when they are showing their true colours. And Shannon’s girls were not shy in front of the camera, full of goofy antics and funny faces – but also capable of some really sweet moments as well!
