Every year on my son’s birthday, we hold a little birthday photo session. It’s a tradition that we’ve adopted to celebrate the passing of another year with this incredible little human in our lives.⁣ And we all really look forward to it.

This year, Henry chose his own outfit, wanting to look fancy-but-not-too-fancy. And it was very important to him to include his Fuzzy in this year’s photos (the lovey that he’s had since the day he was born). Who am I to argue with a definitive 6-year-old who knows what he wants?

We do individual portraits of him, but then we also make sure to photograph each of us with him. And then we also attempt a full family photo – this year, cat included (for extra giggles!).

So rarely am I ever in a decent, non-selfie photo with my boy. I have countless pictures of the milestones in his life, but these birthday photo sessions are also celebrating a milestone for me. Another year being this boy’s mama, another year where I battled anxiety and came out on top, another year where I learned grew as a mother – as HIS mother, another year when this amazing human still wants to crawl into my lap and cuddle.⁣

Happy birthday, my sweet boy.
