When is the best time for newborn photos? | Delta newborn photographer

Delta newborn photographer

Do you have or are you expecting a newborn baby? Are you curious about the best time to capture precious and beautiful images of your new little one?

The proper “newborn photographer” answer is – anywhere between 5-14 days after your baby is born. This is when your new baby is sleepiest and easiest to pose.

But what if you’re not into the typical posed newborn photos? What if you are overwhelmed? Or you haven’t slept since your newborn arrived? What if you didn’t think you’d care about newborn photos and now suddenly it’s 3 weeks after their birth and you want photos?

The truth is – anytime is a good time for newborn photos, if you are comfortable with a more relaxed and natural photography session. Which is exactly what I offer!

My newborn photography sessions take place in the comfort of your own home, and involve very little props and posing. Instead, we focus on all the natural interactions, precious moments and little details that having a newborn baby entails – and this can be done at any age of your newborn’s early life.

These are often referred to as “lifestyle” newborn photography sessions, and they can take place as early as 5 days after your baby is born, or as late as 3-6 months after their arrival. Because I’m not looking to maneuver your baby into cutesy poses or dress them up in Anne Geddes-style flower pots, I don’t need your baby to be super snoozy and pliable. All I need is willing participants and the rest is easy!

We’ll capture detail shots, family shots, mom+baby shots, dad+baby shots, sibling shots and all those squishy little moves and faces that your newborn baby naturally makes. There’s no pressure for a perfectly behaved newborn (what even is that anyways?!?), and your end result will always be beautiful, natural, real-life images that you can treasure forever.

If you think a lifestyle newborn session is right for you, I’d love to hear from you! Even if your baby is already born and you’ve been told they are “too old” for a newborn session, we can still chat! It’s never too late to capture this amazing stage in their young life.
