A decade ago, Jennifer’s family held an 80th birthday party celebration for her dad at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. Family and friends from all around gathered to celebrate, with people telling stories and making toasts, while the young children ran around, excited to be part of the festivities.

Fast forward 10 years, and the same crew gathered at the same location to celebrate another decade with the same wonderful man. The kids are all grown up now, but the stories and toasts were still plentiful, and it was an honour for me to be invited along to document the festivities.

Although the weather was a little dreary outside, we were still able to gather the family for a few portraits outdoors between rain showers, and for the remainder of the event, family and friends mingled and chatted inside, reminiscing and catching up with one another. I got to play my “fly on the wall” role, and tried to covertly capture all the smiles and interactions that made up this momentous occasion. Here are just a few of the images from this special day:
