Arielle’s Session | Ladner Family Photographer

RAIN.

It’s never ideal to see it in the forecast when I’ve got a session coming up. Especially when it’s a 100% chance of a LOT of it! Most of the time, I will reach out to a family the day before their session and offer them some alternative options – changing dates, changing locations etc. Most opt to change their date, and occasionally, if it’s just showers in the forecast, we switch to somewhere with tree coverage.

But Arielle’s family was totally game to go ahead, even in the pouring rain! With family members visiting from out of town, there wasn’t really an option to reschedule, and although Mother Nature has been fairly agreeable with me lately, there was no changing her mind about the wet, wet forecast this time! So, we went ahead as planned, but decided to meet under the group picnic shelter at Deas Island Regional Park, which did keep us fairly dry (not the most scenic of places, but dry nonetheless!).

And bless their hearts, once we got some under-cover, dry photos, this dedicated family tiptoed out into the soggy fields and made the best of it in the POURING rain! And honestly, some of my favourite photos are the ones we captured when everyone was completely soaked through and having a blast, tossing leaves in the air.

It really is what you make of it – and these family photos will be memories that will last a lifetime.
