Family Photos at Deas Island Park | Ladner Photographer

Are you feeling stuck about where to schedule your family photo session? Ask your photographer! Most of us have favourite locations that are tried and true – spots that we know inside and out and can guarantee a great photo no matter what. Deas Island Park is one of those spots for me. Great in rain or shine, with a wide variety of backdrops, Deas Island Park is a favourite location of mine for family photos.

Situated just outside of Ladner, Deas Island Park is right beside the Fraser River. It’s full of picturesque trails, expansive fields, cottonwood trees, boardwalks and a huge variety of views and vantage points. It’s beautiful at pretty much any time of year – wildflowers bloom through the spring, trees are a luscious green in the summer, and the fall boasts lovely colours everywhere.

My favourite place to start most photo sessions is near the family picnic shelter at the back of the park. From here, there are gorgeous fields lined with tall groves of trees, and rustic trails that lead further into the park for those that like to explore. If you are craving water in your background, the rowing slough is also a great place to kick off a photo shoot.

As these photos show, you really can’t go wrong with family photos at Deas Island Regional Park! If you’d like to coordinate a session here, send me a note and let’s set something up!
