Michelle’s Sunset Session | Tsawwassen Photographer

I love the tradition of family photos. For my own family, we’ve started a tradition of booking a photo session every summer when we travel. It’s a great memento from our trip, but also a great way to mark the years as they swiftly fly by. I don’t see the changes in my son daily, but when I look back year after year, I watch how his soft, full cheeks are slowly disappearing as he stretches taller and taller. I can see his cheeky smile slowly transform into the grin of an almost-teenager. He’s growing up before my eyes.

So when a family books me year after year for their family photos, it makes my heart smile because I know that mama is having the same warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feelings when she looks back at her photos. She sees the importance of it too. And Michelle and I share a special bond in that our sons were born on exactly the same day, so she’s experiencing the same changes in her boy that I’m experiencing in mine.

We have certain poses that we do every year, to mark the changes and the growth of these two beautiful kids. We share a lot of laughs (mostly cause by the kids, who get funnier and funnier every year). And I’m always beaming when I go through their session and edit. I absolutely adore this family, and their traditions.
