What to wear, what to wear, what to wear??
If you’re anything like me, I spend an embarrassing amount of time trying to figure out how to dress my family for our annual photo sessions. I want to make sure all of our outfits complement one another, but I also want each of us to be comfortable and look like ourselves. It can get complicated!
But here are a few tips and clothing ideas to get your started, when considering your family’s attire for your spring family photo session.
• Start with you/mom. Mom needs to feel beautiful and comfortable in what she’s wearing. Pick out a fresh, spring outfit that makes you feel amazing, and coordinate the rest of the family around you.
• Start early! If you can, dedicate some time to coordinating your outfits, and try not to throw something together the night before your photo session. You may need to shop or borrow things from friends, so make sure you leave some time to do so.
• Find outfits that complement each other in colour and style – but try to avoid being totally matchy-matchy. I’ve put together some sample outfits below (from Old Navy!) to give you an idea of how to coordinate. Old Navy is a great place to shop because their colour palettes often match across various family members’ attire.
• Once you have everyone’s outfits, toss them all together into a pile on your bed – yes, seriously! If any one piece stands out from the pile, you might want to consider finding something different that will coordinate better.
If you still need some inspiration for this year’s spring photo session, I did a little online window shopping at Old Navy and put together some ideas to inspire you! With any of the shirts in this collage, a nice light jean or khaki would work well – or pants/skirt of any colour that matches! Feel free to mix patterns and colours, but aim to have some solid colours in the mix as well!
