I’m not sure I’ve ever photographed a more perfectly serene resting face than Ginger’s!

Normally during a headshot session, I will coach clients to rotate through three “types” of looks – super smiley/laughing, a closed-mouth smile, and a “neutral” face. It’s easy to catch everyone with a smiley face. Closed-mouth smiles are fairly simple for most people (others are just meant to have big, beautiful teeth smiles). But a neutral face is always tricky for people. It’s hard to stay composed when a camera is pointing at you (and a photographer is chatting at you).

But Ginger had no problem with it at all! Her face reminds me of those smooth-skinned, Elizabethan portraits. Her expression is neutral but thoughtful and serene. She looks curious and wise beyond her years, and I absolutely love the images that she and her mom chose for her new headshots!
