I always admire a family who books an extended family photo session. It’s such a lovely thing to do – gather the grandparents and their children and their children’s children, and make a morning of it. Everyone looks amazing, everyone is laughing and making jokes together, and at the end of it, you have a beautiful collection of timeless images to celebrate this small sliver of time in everyone’s lives.
This is the second time that I’ve had the privilege of photographing Rebecca and her extended family together, and I’m so honoured that they invited me to capture all of them together again. For 2024, we gathered at Deas Island Regional Park, with all of our fingers and toes tightly crossed that we would avoid any sprinkles and rain showers. And we did! There was even a brief showing by the sunshine.
Even better was that all of the kids totally brought their family photo game faces and were more than willing to indulge in some games and silliness (parents too!). There was posing, and running, and chasing, and rabbit ears, and elephant ears, and tickle fights and peek-a-boo….I don’t think I was the only one who was wiped out after we exhausted all the fun tricks in my family photography repertoire!
But when you exhaust all the tricks, you get all the goods! This is only a small sampling of the dozens and dozens of gorgeous photos that we captured for this family….such a fun morning and I can’t wait to work with them again 🙂
