Sunset Traditions with Andrea’s Family

I sincerely adore photographing families year after year, and Andrea’s crew is one of my absolute favourites. I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve worked together, but I think this was our eighth session – and I feel so lucky that I get to see them pretty much every summer for a sunset evening at Centennial Beach.

Her kids are such a joy to be around. They’re curious, funny, and always full of fascinating stories and random facts to share with me, which makes our time together fly by. And of course, their tradition of bringing both grandmas along makes the whole evening feel even more charming. This year, Andrea’s youngest added an “extra extra” dose of sweetness by bringing his quirky stuffy to the session. It popped up in so many of the photos, and I couldn’t love it more—it’s such a true reflection of this family and their “just go with it” frame of mind.

One of my favourite parts of this particular evening was photographing Andrea and her husband on their own. While the kids ran wild in the background being their goofy, wonderful selves, these two snuggled into each other as if no one else was around. I don’t know how long they’ve been married, but in that moment, it was like watching two teenagers in love again. I was just smiling away behind the camera.

The night itself couldn’t have been more perfect – early August, a warm breeze, and the glowing Centennial Beach sunset wrapping everything in gold. Sessions like this remind me exactly why I adore what I do.
