Sunset Memories with Melissa’s Family at Centennial Beach
Melissa’s extended family session at Centennial Beach was everything you could want in a summer evening – warm light, playful energy, and so much joy.
Leading up to their date, we were all watching the forecast like hawks, hoping the summer weather would hold. Thankfully, the evening couldn’t have been more perfect. Warm sunshine, soft golden light, and a sunset that seemed made just for us.
Melissa brought along her two boys, joined by her sister, brother-in-law, their kids, and of course, Melissa’s parents. We kicked things off near the sunlit fields, where my favourite gravel path made the prettiest backdrop for those first portraits. From there, we moved down to the shoreline, taking advantage of every moment of that soft, pinky glow.
One of the joys of extended family sessions is capturing all the different combinations – grandparents with the grandkids, each immediate family, just the cousins, all the men, all the women, and of course, Melissa’s parents together. By the end, we had covered it all, with plenty of smiles, silliness, and even a few goofy moments (yes, including that galloping Instagram trend that had everyone in stitches – surprisingly, it kinda worked!).
As the evening wrapped up, the sky turned shades of pink and lavender, Mt. Baker glowed faintly in the distance, and the moon rose over the water. It was the perfect ending to a session filled with joy, laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime.
