Family Fun Among the Trails of Deas Island
In mid-August, I had the pleasure of photographing Jackie and her family at one of their favourite spots –Deas Island Regional Park. Jackie chose this location because it’s a place they already love, often taking family walks along the trails with the kids. It was the perfect backdrop for capturing this chapter in their lives.
Her two little ones brought so much energy to the session! Her son, who was just about to start kindergarten, was full of excitement and curiosity, while her toddler daughter kept us all on our toes. At first, she wasn’t too interested in having her photo taken, but after some time (and play!) she warmed up to me and the situation at hand. I couldn’t get enough of her adorable little pigtails, which made every candid shot even more adorable.
To keep things fun for the kids, we explored several spots around the park. The rustic wooden fences quickly turned into a climbing adventure, the tucked-away bridge became a place for tossing treasures into the water, and the picturesque trails gave the kids plenty of space to run and play.
While I always love a good posed family portrait, my favourite images from this session are the candid ones – the giggles, the in-between moments, and the natural connection between them all. Those are the photos that tell the real story of a family.
I’m so glad Jackie chose a location they love, and I’m thrilled to have captured these memories for them in a place that already holds fun and joy for them.
