This year’s Fall Mini Sessions felt like a beautiful return to something familiar and much-loved. I hosted them at Diefenbaker Park once again, heading back to the top northwest corner after many years of exploring other locations. I had almost forgotten how lovely that spot is—the elevated view overlooking the rest of the park, paired with pockets of vibrant fall colour that are surprisingly hard to find in South Delta. Those golden and rusty leaves made the perfect seasonal backdrop.

For the most part, the weather cooperated and gave us that soft, flattering fall light we all hope for. We did have to reschedule one date due to rain (because… fall in BC), but everyone was incredibly flexible and patient, which I’m always grateful for.

This year, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing 16 families (!!), and what a wonderful mix they were. From families with tiny littles to those with grown kids, from local South Delta regulars to families who travelled from as far as the North Shore, it was such a joy. Some were brand new to my camera, while others are families I’ve been photographing for many, many years—watching those relationships grow over time never gets old.

Fall Mini Sessions are always fast-paced, energetic, and full of connection, and this year was no exception. I left each session feeling thankful, a little tired, and very full-hearted.

I already can’t wait to do these again next year—and I’m even considering adding a second round later in the fall for families who miss out on the early dates. Make sure you’re on my email list so you get first dibs next year!
