There’s something electric about photographing a young performer who’s ready to be seen.
Over the past few months, I had the pleasure of welcoming four talented young ladies into my studio for actor headshot sessions. All four are actively pursuing opportunities in acting, performing arts, and dance – and they needed images that could keep up with their ambition! These are the kinds of shoots that remind me why I love what I do.
Actor headshots are a very specific kind of portrait. They’re not about looking pretty (though these girls absolutely did). They’re about communicating castability — showing a director or casting agent exactly who you are the moment they land on your photo. That takes intention, preparation, and a photographer who understands the industry’s expectations.
After hundreds of youth headshot sessions over the past decade, working with kids and teens is genuinely one of my specialties. I know how to create an environment where young performers feel relaxed, confident, and like themselves – and I think that’s exactly what comes through in the final images.
In the studio, we work with clean, industry-standard backgrounds and professional or natural lighting that keeps the focus exactly where it belongs: on your face and your expression. We capture a range of looks – from natural and approachable to dramatic and intense – so you have options for different roles and submissions.
I also offer a special youth headshot rate, because I know how quickly teenagers grow and change. What looks like them today may not look like them in 18 months – and their headshots should always reflect who they are right now.
If your teen is pursuing theatre, film, dance, or any performing arts – whether they’re just getting started or building a stronger portfolio – professional headshots are one of the most important tools in their audition toolkit. First impressions happen fast, and a great headshot opens doors before they ever say a word.
