Ask me my favourite time of year and I’ll say late spring every single time – which, conveniently, also happens to be the best time to book family photos! After 12+ years of photographing families in South Delta, I’m convinced. Here’s why.
The Light is Dreamy
June evenings (and early July!) in Tsawwassen are something special. With the longest days of the year, golden hour stretches well past 8 pm, giving us the most gorgeous, flattering light without anyone having to rush through dinner or bedtime. Warm skies, long shadows, soft glow – photographs are perfection.

The Weather is Just Right
Early summer brings reliably warm, clear days, and here in South Delta, we’re lucky that the heavy wildfire smoke that can roll in later in August and into September hasn’t arrived yet. Sessions this time of year almost always mean clear skies and that crisp, clean coastal air that makes the scenery (and your photos) look their best.
Weekdays Are Wide Open
Once school wraps up, something magical happens for scheduling: weekday daytime sessions become a viable option! Because my weekends book up fast, this is genuinely great news. A Tuesday morning or a Wednesday afternoon in June? YES PLEASE. Relaxed kids, no rushing, no weekend chaos. It’s one of my favourite ways to work with families.

It Fills Up Quickly
Summer sessions are popular, and June/early July especially tends to book several weeks in advance. If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, now is genuinely the best time to reach out and grab your spot before the calendar fills.
