Some sessions stay with you long after the last photo is taken. This is one of them.

Robyn reached out with a request that tugged at my heart: she wanted photos of her family’s beloved dog, Georgie, a sheepadoodle reaching the end of her time with them, together with her three kids. After a few quick emails to sort out timing, we landed on Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver — and the kids even got to miss school for the morning to make it happen.

Meeting Georgie

Georgie was a sweetheart. An old girl with the calmest demeanour and deep, soulful eyes, she was mellow and easygoing the entire time, happy to sit, lean, and wander at her own gentle pace. We moved through a few spots around the park, soaking up sunny, warm weather and soft shady light.

The Kids and Their Girl

Robyn’s three kids — 9, 11, and 13 — clearly adored Georgie. We photographed all three together with her, then slowed down for individual portraits of each child with their girl. We also grabbed a few shots of just the siblings together. There was plenty of laughing, some gentle nuzzling, and quiet moments too – the kind that come naturally when you’re sitting in the grass with a dog who’s watched a family grow up around her.

A Morning to Hold Onto

This wasn’t a sad session – it was a joyful one. A chance to slow down and celebrate a dog who’s been such a steady, loving presence in this family’s life. Robyn’s kids will have these photos forever: one more beautiful morning with Georgie, surrounded by the people who loved her most.
