Wherever you are, I call home.

It’s a sentiment most of us moms feel when we are with our kids, and one that we hope our kids always feel with us. We may not always live in the same home, or even the same city, but we hope that being in each other’s company feels as close to being at home as any dwelling could.

Arriving at Michelle’s cozy East Vancouver townhome, I couldn’t feel anything except being at home.  From the fairy homes placed lovingly in their little front garden, to the endless surfaces covered in Mother’s day cards and family photos, to the peals of excitement and laughter that emanated from her sweet kids constantly, this home felt safe, welcoming, almost even magical.

We spent a “normal” morning together, finding magic and joy in the smallest moments, like braiding hair, brushing teeth, reading stories, dancing to Cherry Bomb and reading books about farts. It was everyday perfection. These kids are loved and celebrated and adored so much by their mama, and it’s obvious they feel the same way about her.

She is their home.
