“So I did all the right things according to Mr. Google and Pinterest. Chose a colour scheme. Similar tones. No matchy matchy. Weather appropriate. I was so proud. And then she pulled her choice out. And she is determined that it is the perfect match to our stuff.”

These were words texted to me by mama Christine, the night before their scheduled photo session, when her youngest daughter begged to wear a cheetah t-shirt that perfectly matched the colour palette of their session. But then she said:

“I think we’re doing it. Because it screams Miss B and it will be a story to tell. And she should get to make some choices, right?”

Right!

I love that one day this mama will look back at her family photos with a smile on her face because she remembers how determined, fierce and creative her daughter was at that age – simply because she allowed her to wear that amazing cheetah shirt in their family photos. Our kids grow up so fast. Why not capture the real essence of them while we can?

And so, we ventured out to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary with two bubbly girls, and their parents, and captured these amazing cheetah-filled photos. Enjoy!
