Normally, my early months of a new year are full of headshot sessions – but this year, it was newborns! A bit of a different start to the year, but I loved it.

This sweet boy was born in early 2023 and his big sister couldn’t wait! I originally met this family at their maternity session in late 2022, and immediately hit it off their daughter, who happens to attend the same school as my son (just a few years younger). She was full of excitement for the arrival of her new baby, and even though the weather that day was chilly, she was still full of smiles and stories for me. Her baby brother decided to arrive a few weeks early and spent some time in the NICU, but before mom & dad knew it, he was home and life as a family of 4 (plus two adorable dogs!) had begun.

We spent most of our time shooting this session in their master bedroom where we had lovely light from their backyard. Master bedrooms are one of my favourite places to hold a lifestyle newborn sessions because they are always so cozy and allow us to really get comfortable with one another. And this baby was so chill! Barely any fussing, super snoozy and totally tolerant of the sometimes chaotic scene around him – dogs and toys and doting big sister.

I’m super pleased with how this family’s images turned out and look forward to watching this sweet boy (and his sister) grow!
