It’s that time of year again! Delta Youth Theatre is hard at work, putting the finishing touches on their fall production of The Sound of Music: Youth Edition. In Austria, 1938, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power. This beloved production is a multi-generational favourite that will feature performances by young singers, dancers and actors from North and South Delta, and communities across the Lower Mainland – and yours truly!

Yes, DYT needed some keen, additional performers to round out the group of nuns in the production, and so you just might see me lurking on stage in my nun’s habit!

But these lovely performers below will be the real stars! Delta Youth Theatre is known for their spectacular 4-cast model, which allows multiple talented performers to tackle each role. The actors featured below are DYT’s 4 Marias and 4 Captain Von Trapps, and I had the pleasure of photographing them for their promotional materials.

The Sound of Music runs from December 1 – 10, 2023 at the Equinox Theatre at SDSS. Tickets are $32 – $40 and can be purchased online HERE. This is going to be a very popular show, so don’t delay! See you there?
