For years, I have debated about whether or not to do Holiday Mini sessions. In the past, I’ve created a festive set of some kind in my home studio, and it’s always a stresser for me. My studio is open to the rest of my house which means my family members need to make themselves scarce, my cats needs to be locked in a room somewhere, and my house needs to be tidied and cleaned ALL the time. If you know me, you’d know how chaotic this feels for me!
After holding holiday mini sessions last year at another location (thanks to Chang’s Taekwondo!), I still wasn’t sure if these sessions were for me. Although they were no longer in my house, it still involved an extensive set-up, lighting, longs days on location – I just wasn’t feeling the love! So, I vowed to myself that I wouldn’t do holiday mini sessions again. They just weren’t worth the stress and worry.
But of course, when the fall season rolled around this year, and other photographers started offering their mini sessions, I didn’t want to be left out! So I decided to offer OUTDOOR holiday mini sessions. And although I loved how these sessions turned out, I was, once again, stressed out by tracking the weather, hauling props and set pieces into the woods, and worrying how the photos would turn out. So, this is it folks – the last of my official holiday mini sessions! (For real this time!)
Next year, I’ve decided that I will likely just offer MORE fall family mini session dates and times, and have purchased a lovely holiday wreath that I will bring to ALL of my mini sessions so that families have the option of getting regular family photos and also capturing their holiday card image as well!
But for now, enjoy these lovely “last official holiday mini sessions” ever! Thank you to all of you for your patience while I figured this all out! And Happy Holidays to all of you!
