There is no bigger honour as a photographer than to be included in a family’s annual tradition of family photos, year after year. I’ve been photographing Kimiko’s family since she invited me to her home for a newborn session after her son was born, and every year since, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with this crew each fall for another photo session.
They’ve since added an adorable puppy to their family, and pretty soon these kiddos are going to be as tall as their parents, but one thing never changes – their total willingness to have fun and be present with one another to make some memories. If one of the parents isn’t visible in the photo, you can pretty much guarantee that they are somewhere directly behind me, shaking their booty or making a ridiculous face in order to secure some smiles and giggles. And the kids take notice – they don’t shy away from their own silly dances and faces when the parents are in front of the camera.
That’s what I love about Kimiko’s family – they are totally willing to go with the flow and forego “perfection” during a family photo session and (surprise!) their results are absolutely perfect 🙂
