Mahri’s Sparkly Sunset Grad Session

I was so excited to photograph Mahri’s grad session; this one felt extra special. I first met Mahri through Delta Youth Theatre, where she has been a standout performer in so many of their recent productions, including The Music Man Jr., Oliver Jr., Finding Nemo Jr., and The Sound of Music: Youth Edition. Anyone who’s met Mahri knows how lovely she is – kind, soft-spoken, and thoughtful. It was such a treat to spend a beautiful evening capturing this moment in her life.

Mahri got ready at my home studio, and the moment she stepped into her gown, I knew this was going to be a special event. Her emerald green dress was absolutely stunning – sparkly, full-skirted, and totally fairytale-worthy. She warned me ahead of time that she was going to leave behind a trail of glitter and she did (literally… I’m still finding sparkles in the studio and my car!). She paired the dress with the most perfect footwear: green high-top Converse sneakers. It was such a fun, personality-packed outfit that felt so her.

During the session, Mahri told me that this felt like her “princess moment,” and I could see it; her excitement and quiet confidence glowed with every shot. We timed our shoot to line up with golden hour, and even though it was slightly cloudy, the evening turned out to be quite magical.

Mahri is heading off to Grant MacEwan University in the fall to study musical theatre, and I just know she’s going to thrive. With her talent, grace, and grounded spirit, big things are ahead.
